It’s time for Congress to listen to the American people and pass a strong universal background checks bill. Loopholes in our gun laws make it too easy for dangerous people to get their hands on a gun with no questions asked. It’s time to close dangerous loopholes and require a background check for every gun sale.
There is no official Our Revolution gun position... so why Giffords?
It is way too important a topic to remain silent on, so while we respect that national might be afraid of the polarizing ramifications of a stand on guns, we in Buffalo Grove simply cannot standby while children are murdered in schools.

Who is Gabby Giffords and why are we supporting her group?
Gabby was a sitting member of the U.S. House from AZ, when she was shot in the head from close range at a political event. She was told she would never walk or speak again, today she is fighting back in a tale of true American heroism, check out the videos here.

Americans are 25 times more likely to be killed by a gun than people in other developed nations – but it doesn’t have to be this way. Gun deaths are preventable, which is why we’re committed to tackling our national gun violence epidemic. At Giffords we do this in three ways

Advocacy and Lobbying - Our 501(c)(4) nonprofit arm mobilizes lawmakers and the constituents they represent—gun owners and non–gun owners—in support of safer gun laws.

What can I do to help?
Support the the SAFER Now Act - Among provisions, the bill would:

Prohibit gun sales before the completion of a background check, closing a loophole that allows transactions to go forward if a background check takes longer than three days.

Ban assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition.

Authorize the use of federal grants to buy back semiautomatic weapons, taking them off the street once and for all.

Close the “gun show loophole,” so sales at gun shows are subject to background checks and treated like other firearm transactions.

Make firearm trafficking a violation of federal criminal law.

Keep guns out of the hands of stalkers and domestic abusers.
